The End

This all-too familiar ache

is nesting in my chest again

This time it took one let down

just, for me to welcome back old pain

I have seen it all before,

the end is all I know, you see

You can start and you can carry on

but endings are my lullaby -you can’t fool me

This time I hoped you’d rise above

the standard all the others set

But you were weak and you fell down,

once more on the wrong horse I bet

How to rid my heart of thorns?

How to ease this pain?

Goodbye, my love, it has to be

The End, once again.
